Rumor has it that everyone's favorite Manhattanite, Miss Sarah Jessica Parker, may be packing her bags and moving the fam to Brooklyn. In her Gimme Shelter column today, the Post 's Jennifer Gould Keil reports that SJP and her hubby Matthew Broderick are the "secret owners of a stunning prewar Victorian townhouse on Prospect Park West. The home was formerly owned by Jennifer Connelly and Paul Bettany, who left for TriBeCa last year, and sources say that a company affiliated with Parker bought the townhouse."
The gorgeous home was purchased for $8.45 million last December by a limited liability company called Harken Pretty, which sounds "pretty" similar to SJP's production company, Pretty Matches. The house has nine bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms and since SJP just brought home newborn twins (from a surrogate mother), Park Slope seems like the ideal location for her growing family. The neighborhood has always been known to be baby carriage central and gets trendier by the day with new restaurants, bars, cafes and boutiques accumulating in number. We think SJP will fit in just fine in the Slope, Manolos, babies and all!
Of course this is all speculation, but as the home undergoes a complete gut renovation, we here at The Brooklyn Beat can only hope that we can one day call the Sex and the City princess our neighbor. What we can confirm is that SJP's production company has optioned Amy Sohn's new Brooklyn mommy chick-lit book, "Prospect Park West" and Sohn is writing the TV Pilot. Will we see a new HBO TV series hitting Brooklyn soon? Fingers crossed!
