I was leaving my yoga class this morning and was walking up Sackett St. and I noticed an abundance of balloons and streamers adorning a brownstone ahead of me. I overheard some neighbors talking on the stoop next door and found out that the decorations were there to honor the 100th birthday of Mary, a longtime Carroll Gardens resident. There was also a beautiful banner that was made hanging above the door with Mary's photo. What a wonderful way to celebrate life! I snapped a photo with my blackberry to share with The Brooklyn Beat readers. May we all be so lucky to have such a long life and to be able to celebrate it Brooklyn style!
